Strengthening the Electricity Grid of the Pori Region – Pori Grid 2035

Satakunta produces 40% of Finland’s electricity, giving the region a strong and comprehensive electricity grid. However, the grid is currently undergoing significant change and development, as a substantial amount of new renewable energy production is being planned in the region. At the same time, several investors are planning highly electricity-intensive investments in Satakunta.
This project supports the development of the electricity grid in the Pori region, particularly to improve the conditions for investments planned in Meri-Pori, Harjavalta, and Ulvila that either generate or require significant amounts of electricity. The project maps and examines the location of new electricity production and consumption in relation to the existing electricity grid and its connection points, while also assessing grid expansion needs, strengths, and synergies between different projects from the perspective of grid development.
In addition, the project promotes cooperation and synergy in electricity grid planning between municipalities, industry, Fingrid, and network operators in the region. The goal is to strengthen the electricity grid of the Pori region and, at the same time, improve the region’s competitiveness in attracting green transition investments.
The project implementation period is from 1 October 2025 to 30 September 2028.
