Satakunta Metaversum for Business

The metaverse is an emerging technology trend that is currently attracting significant interest both nationally and internationally. It is particularly important that companies and higher education institutions in the region recognise the opportunities offered by the metaverse and anticipate its future development and potential impact.

The Satakunta Metaversum for Business project aims to build a shared understanding, together with higher education institutions, the Robocoast cluster, industry, and other companies and organisations interested in innovation and RDI activities, of what the metaverse means in practice and how it could affect companies’ existing business operations. The project also aims to identify use cases in which industry is most likely to utilise metaverse-related solutions in the future. The project is implemented as a new type of collaborative development pilot between companies and universities.

The Satakunta Metaversum for Business project:

  • organises workshops for companies to build a shared understanding of the concrete business opportunities offered by the metaverse
  • selects 1–2 of the most promising product and service innovations from the identified use cases, conducts technology readiness assessments and evaluates their actual business potential
  • develops at least one clearly defined metaverse-related product or service concept with the potential to be further developed into a new product or service after the project, for example through company-led R&D projects
  • uses the business development needs identified during the project to strengthen interaction and cooperation between university education and companies
