Utilizing Waste Heat as Useful Energy

The aim of the Utilizing Waste Heat as Useful Energy project is to identify the largest sources of waste heat in the Pori region and determine the total amount and thermal value of the waste heat produced. In addition, the project maps potential end-users of waste heat as well as the best technologies, methods, and model solutions for recovering and utilizing waste heat. These solutions are also modeled and piloted in industrial environments in the Pori region. Based on the information produced, a regional waste heat roadmap extending to 2030 will be created.

Two reports were produced within the project:

Three events were organized during the project:

  • “The Hottest Topic or Waste Heat?” workshop, 20 February 2020
  • “Utilizing Waste Heat” webinar, 11 November 2022
  • “Waste Heat as Useful Energy” seminar and mini expo, 14 August 2023

Four external studies were commissioned:

Implementation period:
1 August 2019 – 31 August 2023

Funding:
Regional Council of Satakunta (ERDF) and the municipalities of the Pori region

The project has ended. Thank you to everyone who participated in the project!
