Growth Ecosystem – Technology Metals, Energy and Circular Economy

The aim of the project is to strengthen the Pori region’s position as an internationally attractive and competitive investment environment by increasing the number of production and RDI investments. These goals will be achieved by mapping the region’s technology metals, energy, and circular economy ecosystems and by making the opportunities offered by investment locations more visible to potential investors.

In addition, the project aims to strengthen cooperation between industrial park operators and to develop the skills needed by industry through collaboration with educational institutions. The project measures support the implementation of the ecosystem agreement objectives of the Pori both in terms of increasing investments and promoting low-emission industry.

The project is funded by the Regional Council of Satakunta through the Innovative Cities and Communities programme, as well as by the Pori. The project implementation period is from 1 April 2023 to 30 June 2026.

Studies carried out within the project:

Several green transition projects are being planned for Tahkoluoto, all of which require different types and amounts of water for their processes. This study examined industrial water demand, availability, and the costs of different water infrastructure solutions through various scenarios. The report can be accessed via the link below:

Satakunta has a significant industrial sector where methane could serve as a low-emission fuel. To make methane a more accessible solution for a wider range of operators, Satakunta would benefit from a connection to the national methane, or natural gas, network. At the same time, the LNG terminal in Pori, together with new biomethane and synthetic methane production facilities, could strengthen the security of supply of the gas network.

The report examined methane use among local companies, production plans, and future potential. The report can be accessed via the link below:
